It's all about Serving with PASSION !   PA's very own Ms Lim Mui Ing was conferred the PS21 Star Service Award on 10 July 2007 by Minister for Defence and Minister-in-Charge of the Civil Service, Mr Teo Chee Hean. The PS21 Star Service Awards celebrates the service achievements of public service officers who demonstrate professional pride and passion at work. A veteran in administrative and grassroots work, Mui Ing, who has been with the PA for 28 years, has witnessed many changes in the PA and believes in the PASSION Service Value, "Never give up". When asked what keeps her going, she says, "The joy on my customers' faces make my day worthwhile."

Mui Ing insists that this Award does not belong to her alone. "All the credit," says the former Constituency Support Officer of Toa Payoh East Constituency Office (CO), "must go to the team I worked with. My supervisor and colleagues were all working towards the same goal. Teamwork was the key to our successes at the CO." Ms Wong Boon Tok, her Group Constituency Manager, remembers, "Mui Ing was naturally the officer who was tasked to front the welfare initiatives. Over and above tackling the usual Community Club workload, her days were filled with listening attentively to welfare applicants' needs and problems. We marvelled at the way she handled harsh criticisms and scoldings from unsuccessful applicants in a calm and professional manner."

Mui Ing is certainly an exemplary role model who applies the right Service Values with everyone she comes into contact with - residents, grassroots leaders and her colleagues. Younger officers look up to her for guidance and moral support. One of her colleagues, Fadilah Hanim, says, "I have learnt a lot from Mui Ing. She remains positive even when things are very difficult, and is always so pleasant, helpful and generous, willing to share her knowledge with us." Mui Ing is now Finance Assistant at the Central Singapore Community Development Council.
