800 ration packs raised in 1 week

Delivering food for Project CANtribute PA embarked on a one-week campaign called Project CANtribute from 12 to 18 January to raise ration packs for less privileged families staying in one and two-rooms rental units in Jalan Besar, Kampong Glam, Kolam Ayer, Moulmein and Whampoa divisions.

Project CANtribute is a ground-up project initiated and championed by PA staff, with the support from Jalan Besar Grassroots Organisations (GROs). The project conveyed happiness and the spirit of community togetherness to less privileged residents, particularly during the festive period.

The brainchild of PA staff, this project is part of the Chingay 2012 community engagement initiative which ties up to this year’s Chingay theme of “Love, Care, Kindness Everywhere”.

Food rations such as rice, cooking oil, soya sauce, canned food, biscuits, instant noodles and beverages were donated by staff over the 1-week campaign. These were then packed and personally distributed to residents in the Jalan Besar division where PA headquarters is located. The remaining rations were distributed to less privileged families in Kampong Glam, Kolam Ayer, Moulmein and Whampoa divisions through their respective GROs.

Adviser to Jalan Besar GROs, Mr Edwin Tong, PA’s Chief Executive Director, Mr Yam Ah Mee and twelve contestants from Brides of the World accompanied staff and volunteers on the house-to-house distribution of food packs on 20 January 2012.

Among the recipients were Mdm Rozalita Ahakasah and her children. They were thrilled to receive the food rations and conveyed their gratitude to those who visited their home.
