Baby Singapore competition bonds families

Ever since Catherine Ho, 39, mother of five, enrolled her 11-month-old daughter, Elliana, in the Baby Singapore @ Yew Tee competition, she has become more aware of Yew Tee CC’s activities and has also made many friends.
Into its third year, the annual Baby Singapore competition organised by the People’s Association’s Family Life Champions celebrates family life and parenthood. This year, the competition aimed to foster stronger sibling ties and encouraged parents to bond with their children through sports and physical activities.
The competition has also opened up many avenues for the contestants’ parents such as Catherine to take part in various CC activities.
Catherine has joined Yew Tee’s Brestpal Interest Group and has had the opportunity to share her parenting experiences with other mothers. She has also enrolled her daughter in Yew Tee CC’s dance troupe so that she too could develop her interest and keep healthy at the same time.
The Baby Singapore competition is also one platform that helps to strengthen inter-generational bonding by bringing grandparents and grandchildren together.
Mdm Rabiyah, 50, whose granddaughter was enrolled in the Most Sporty Baby category for Baby Singapore @ Yio Chu Kang, said, “I hope that by encouraging family and neighbours to take part in such activities, it helps to spread the awareness of CC programmes and use it as a platform for interaction and making friends, while strengthening inter-generational bonding.”
The finals of Baby Singapore were held on 25 and 26 June 2010. Find out more about Baby Singapore.
