An exciting new master's programme in community leadership and social development is now available for application. This programme was introduced with the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between PA and the SIM University on 18 February 2012. Find out more about the PA-UniSIM MOU signing through the speech by Ms Grace Fu, Board Chairperson for the National Community Leadership Institute (NACLI).
First of its kind in the region, this programme will equip students with multi-disciplinary understanding of the issues and challenges surrounding the practice of community leadership and social development to enable them to cope with the rapid changes and demands of the society and the world.
Spanning over a period of 84 weeks, this master's programme combines both academic modules and practical policy-focused skills development. Graduates will be able to assume leadership roles in a range of careers such as community and grassroots leaders, planners, policy makers, civil society actors, social workers, counsellors, unionists, managers, teachers, trainers and researchers. Students who are already in such careers will add value to their existing work with this specialised qualification and professional upgrading.
Taught by experienced academics and professionals, classes will be scheduled to meet the needs of working adults.
Students would be required to complete six core courses. Upon completion, they will be awarded with the Advanced Diploma by PA’s NACLI. Students can then proceed to take up elective modules and complete a thesis before being awarded the Masters by SIM University.
Interested applicants can register for this exciting new programme all year round. SIM University will take in new intakes in January and July every year. For details on admission criteria, fees and course schedule, check out the Master of Community Leadership and Social Development brochure or visit the SIM University website to register online.
