ITE students joined grassroots leaders in running the GLantern Festival cum Community Bonding Day 370 by 226The People’s Association’s (PA) and the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) have entered into a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) which will be extended to the entire ITE community – ITE College Central, ITE College East and ITE College West.  This new MOU will be a significant milestone in the collaboration between the PA and ITE since its commencement in 2005, with the inking of the first MOU in 2007 between the PA Youth Movement (YM)and ITE College Central (CC).

With positive experiences and seeing how the students have benefitted through this partnership, such as developing their leadership and life skills, both PA and ITE have been working closely to strengthen and deepen this school-community linkage.  The new MOU, which was extended to include various PA units and all ITE Colleges, aims to collaborate on community-focused programmes to nurture the talents of ITE students, develop their character and leadership capabilities and achieve community bonding and social cohesion.

The MOU signing ceremony was held in conjunction with Radin Mas constituency’s “Lantern Festival cum Community Bonding Day” on Friday, 9 September and was officiated by Mr Yam Ah Mee, Chief Executive Directorof PA, and Mr Bruce Poh, Director and Chief Executive Officer of ITE, amongst key representatives from both organisations.

“PA values the collaboration with ITE and the signing of the new MOU brings our partnership to a higher level.  Through meaningful community-focused programmes, we aim to reach out to more youths, develop their personal leadership and life skills capabilities and encourage them to play an active role in bonding and connecting with the local community,” said Mr Chia Tze Yee, Group Director (Engagement Programmes Cluster) of PA.

ITE is pleased that the MOU is an enhancement of the long-term and positive partnership we have had with PA. The collaboration will see both organisations work synergistically to leverage on the strengths of one another, and on initiatives that will develop our youths through real-work and authentic learning opportunities, while achieving community bonding and social cohesion,” said Mr Tan Seng Hua, Principal of ITE College Central.
