Magic Challenge proves a hit with families

Learning magic tricks to stay active and bond with fellow seniors, that’s what the Jurong Spring CC Senior Citizens’ Executive Committee’s (SCEC) Magic Interest Group promoted through the PA Active Agers’ Magic Challenge.

Through collaborations with The International Brotherhood of Magicians (Ring 115), and supported by the PA Active Ageing Council, the Magic Challenge event held on 18 December 2011 saw seniors pitting their skills against one another.

Community Countdown Parties

Performances by popular artistes like Singapore Idols, Taufik Batisah and Hady Mirza, stunning dance performances by youths, flea markets, ground activities such as balloon sculpting and face painting, and spectacular fireworks displays – come 31 December 2011, these are just some of the activities that residents can look forward to at the over 60 Community Countdown Parties islandwide organised by the various PA Grassroots Organisations (GROs).

The Countdown Parties, themed “Celebrating Happiness and Wellness”, provide residents with the opportunity to take some time off from their busy schedules to come together with their family, neighbours and friends to welcome 2012 and have fun as a community.

Children’s Christmas wishes came true

Over 100 children in Chong Pang Constituency had their Christmas wishes granted early this year at “Christmas Joy @ Chong Pang” on 18 December 2011. Adviser to Chong Pang Grassroots Organisations, Mr K Shanmugam, gave out presents to the children, all of whom were from lower-income households.

Organisers from the Chong Pang CC Youth Executive Committee (YEC) invited the children, who were nominated by schools, voluntary welfare organisations, and selected from the constituency’s welfare database, to make a wish for a Christmas gift.
