Inter-generational cup stacking

The PA and the World Sport Stacking Association (WSSA) came together for the first time to organise the PA-WSSA Active Agers’ Sport Stacking Challenge on 30 October 2011.

Held at the Braddell Heights CC, the challenge saw 40 seniors, aged 50 and above and 30 children, aged between the ages of seven and 12 participating.

On the evening of 29 October 2011, the usually quiet corridors of Boon Lay CC came alive with the buzz and anticipation of the first major event held within its newly renovated walls.  ArtsForUs, an arts festival, aimed to help promote the arts as a platform to foster greater family ties and showcase the diversity of performances and arts in Singapore today.

Not one to be left behind, the Boon Lay CC Youth Executive Committee (YEC) rose to the occasion to celebrate expression and creativity with the Balloon Sculpting Interest Group (BSIG).

Knowing each other through Cantonese Opera

Organisers of Treats for the Elderly370 by 226Enthused by the success of past opera performances in bringing joy to the beneficiaries, “Opera Treats for the Elderly” was staged on 17 September 2011 to strengthen intergenerational ties between youth volunteers and seniors.  As an initiative “for seniors by youths, for youths by seniors”, the programme provided both the elderly and youth volunteers with an enriching experience.

Organised by YMCA of Singapore and supported by Queenstown Family Life Champion (FLC), the opera performance was held at Queenstown Community Centre (CC) and graced by Mr Yam Ah Mee, Chief Executive Director of People’s Association.
