PAssion Fun Around the Bay 2011

The People’s Association (PA) unveiled its One Millionth PAssion Card Member – A 33 year-old culinary and fitness enthusiast, Ms Ng Woon Hui, at PAssion Fun Around the Bay 2011 on 29 October 2011. The celebration kicked off with PAssion Fun Carnival @ 4pm, followed by Skechers PAssion Fun Walk @ 6.30pm. More than 5,000 PAssion Card members accompanied by their family members and friends went for a leisure walk around the Marina Bay. We then ended the night with an outdoor movie under the stars.

The PAssion Fun Carnival engaged more than 180 volunteers who had spontaneously responded to our call for volunteers. The volunteers ranged from the age of six to a 71-year-old veteran. Many had signed up via our PAssion Card Facebook Page and weekly e-Direct Mailer (eDM) and more than 70% of them were volunteering for the first time! 

One of them, Mr Eric Chan, shared, “As a first-time volunteer, I was tasked as a team leader to oversee, coordinate and plan my team’s game stall.  Not only did I get to widen my social circle, meet people from different walks of life and ethnic backgrounds, I also got to bring joy to everyone and help the less fortunate.”

Another volunteer, Ms Ng Pei Shan from Kim Seng Youth Executive Committee (YEC), currently a 2nd Year Business Administration student from Singapore Polytechnic, formed a Paper Art stall together with five other YEC Members. A believer in using arts & culture talents to contribute back to the community, she was glad that funds raised from the sales of their art work would help the less fortunate.

At PAssion Fun Around the Bay, we also took the opportunity to recognise the following top three constituencies which have the most number of PAssion Card members and top three constituencies with the most number of active PAssion Card Members who have participated in PA/CC Programmes. 

Top three constituencies with Best PAssion Card Outreach:-
1. Bishan North CO
2. Pasir Ris East CO
3. Chua Chu Kang CO

Top three constituencies with Best PAssion Card Engagement:-
1. Nanyang CO
2. Bishan North CO
3. Pasir Ris West CO

We would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to all our grassroots leaders, PAssion Card merchants and partners and PA staff, especially those at the Constituency Offices. Without their strong support, the success of the PAssion Card outreach; reaching one million members one year ahead of planned time; would not have been possible.

A very big Thank You; let’s continue to spread our PAssion and reach our goal of 1.5 million members by year 2015!
