Cultivating Passion in the Arts

Cultivating Passion in the ArtsOriginally known as PULSE! Hip Hop Knockout when it debuted in 2006, the PULSE! StreetDance Competition continues to receive yearly overwhelming nation-wide response. A new category – Korean Pop – that was introduced in 2012 created further hype in the dance competition as a result of the K-pop fever.

YOUth Got Talent! Singing CompetitionThe first YOUth Got Talent! Singing Competition was launched in 2009, in four major national languages. Since then, participation has been growing year on year. Aspiring singers can choose to participate in either the individual or vocal group category.

Teater PelajarTeater Pelajar, a story-telling and skit competition, was also introduced in 2011 where participants produce their own plays. Held during Bulan Bahasa (Malay Language Month), this annual event has been a major success and is well-received by both students and teachers.

Egg Painting CompetitionThe Egg Painting Competition, which is jointly organised with Geylang West GROs, made its first appearance in 2007. This activity promotes family bonding between the youths and their families through arts and craft. Since its debut, there has been a steady increase in participation.

Community Service Series

Nurturing Compassion and Community Spirit

Each year, T-Net Club will be involved in community service to inspire youth to give back to the society. These projects inculcate compassion and the community spirit in youth for e.g. YOUth Give Back! @ Marine Parade and YOUths Care @ T-Net Club.

Sports Series

Building Camaraderie and Sportsmanship

Basketball and futsal are the two of the main sports played amongst the youth of Singapore. The T-Net Club Dual League that features the Under-14 and Under-16 categories, allows you to showcase your skills in these two sports. Held yearly during the June holidays, the inter-club competition promotes sportsmanship and teamwork.

 T-Net Club Dual League

Apart from our Dual League, we have our Under-14 Netball Competition. Debuted in 2009, the competition has seen rising participation with greater awareness and interest in the sport. T-Net hopes to build on this increasing interest and expand the competition to include a primary school category.

 Under-14 Netball Competition

In addition, T-Net Club also organises Under-14 Boys and Girls Basketball Tournament. This tournament enables youths to hone their basketball skills and build camaraderie with their team mates through a competitive platform. The experience helps to prepare them for bigger challenges in future.

Lastly, to commemorate T-Net Club’s anniversary, the eight T-Net Clubs and T-Net Advisory Council organise the PULSE! Sports Fiesta.  This event combines two of our key pillars - Performing Arts and Sports – by staging the street variations of basketball, football, netball, Hip Hop and K-Pop dance competitions. The PULSE! Sports Fiesta also has a community service element called ‘Score with a Heart’, where donors pledge an amount towards a chosen beneficiary.

Lion & Dragon Dance

It is said that the legend of the dragon dance dates back to the Han dynasty. Equally legendary is the Bukit Merah Lion and Dragon Dance Troupe that was formed in the 1990s. Under the charge of Club Manager, Mr Ng Liap Soon, the Troupe trains tirelessly for the “Plucking the Green” event. This event takes place annually during the Chinese New Year period and helps drum up the festive mood.

Their reputation as a formidable team even garnered them some coverage on local media. Be a part of the team. We will see you on the field!
