PA Senior Academy Launches Advanced Certificate in Senior Wellness Programme

375 seniors from the second batch of the PA Senior Academy (SA) graduated with a Certificate in Senior Wellness Programme.  The PA Senior Academy 2nd Convocation 2016 was graced by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on Friday, 29 July 2016, at Nanyang Polytechnic Auditorium.  Since the launch of PA’s Senior Academy in February 2015, over 6,000 seniors have benefited from the various PA Senior Academy programmes. 

From September 2016 onwards, the academy will start to offer the Advanced Certificate in Senior Wellness programme, providing deeper immersion learning and opportunities for senior volunteerism.  Graduates from the first and second batch of the Certificate in Senior Wellness Programme can look forward to more skills specialisation courses co-created with Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs) like National University of Singapore (NUS), as well as overseas deep learning exchange programmes with accredited institutions like University of Hong Kong.  There will also be action-based community programme to pair seniors with industry partners to co-create solutions for the less privileged in the community. 

Seniors can also choose from three (3) skill specialisation tracks offered under the advanced programme, namely Health & Wellness; Craftworkz and Food & Beverage. The 6-month Advanced Certificate in Senior Wellness Programme is open to Singaporeans and PRs who are 50 years and above only; and has either graduated from Certificate in Senior Wellness Programme or completed 12 Senior Academy elective courses.  PAssion Card members will pay $80, whereas non-Passion Card member will pay $92.  Seniors can use their SkillsFuture credit to pay for this certificate programme.

81-year-old Mr Ng Hon Wing, the oldest graduate as well as one of the valedictorian for this Convocation, shared that he was looking forward to the Advanced Certificate for Senior Wellness Programme.  He shared that he always had an interest in learning.  Beyond the Certificate in Senior Wellness Programme, Mr Ng has also been taking many Senior for Smart Nation courses such as ‘Be a Drone Pilot, ‘Presentations made 3D with Hologram’, etc.
