Grassroots Organisations

The People’s Association (PA) has a network of more than 2,000 grassroots organisations (GROs). They are managed by volunteers appointed by the PA. Through their involvement in the GROs, these volunteers help the PA achieve its mission of nurturing community participation to build a caring and united Singapore.

PA's volunteers play the following roles in the community:

bring people of different backgrounds together by organising a wide range of programmes for residents to meet and interact and encourage community participation;
raise awareness about community issues;
gather feedback and share government policies when it might be helpful for residents;
provide assistance to residents in need; and
strengthen racial harmony and social cohesion in our community.
